I received this SensatioNail Invincible Gel Polish Starter Kit from Nailene to try out and review:
Ok so first off, I’ve never had any kind of gel on my nails before.. Firstly – because I have good strong nails by themselves, so I never saw the need.
And secondly – because I never felt like I had a big enough occasion that would justify the cost of getting gel nails done at the salon. So I was super excited to try out this product & a little nervous at the same time!
The Nailene SensatioNail starter kit comes with all the essentials that you need to get yourself started:
- Gel Cleanser
- Gel Primer
- Gel Base & Top Coat
- Color Gel Polish
- Pro 3060 LED Light
- Manicure Stick
- Lint-free Wipes
- Double-sided Nail Buffer
Application of the product, even though it was my first time, was really easy and relatively quick. And I’m sure that each time you use it, it will go even quicker & smoother, as with anything you get more ‘practiced’ at.
I would definitely recommend watching the little tutorial videos on the SensatioNail website before doing this manicure for yourself at home. They are very helpful and immediately put your mind at ease.
Step 1
File & lightly buff the natural nail.
Step 2
Using the lint-free wipe, clean nails with the Gel Cleanser.
Step 3
Apply one layer of Gel Primer to nail & air dry for 30 seconds.
Step 4
Apply a thin layer of the Gel Base & Top Coat, avoiding your skin & cuticles, and cap the nail by running the brush along the tip of your nail.
Step 5
Cure for 30 seconds.
Step 6
Apply a thin layer of the Colour Gel Polish, avoiding your skin & cuticles, and cap the nail by running the brush along the tip of your nail. Cure for 60 seconds, then apply a second layer of Colour Gel Polish & cure for another 60 seconds.
Step 7
I then decided to get a little creative and added a piece of black lace on my ring finger’s nails as an accent nail, using the Gel Base & Top Coat, & cured again for 60 seconds.
Final Product
Lasty I added another 2 layers of the Gel Base & Top Coat over the lace (with only 1 layer on each of the other nails) & curing for 30 seconds after each layer.
Then as a Final Step – Remove the moisture layer using the Gel Cleanser & lint-free wipes.
I’m a very ‘hands on’ person, i.e. physically using my hands a lot everyday, which means that nail polish on my finger nails usually don’t last very long.
With this sensationail mani, my nails stayed perfect the whole 2 weeks. No chips, beautifully shiny & I could easily have kept it on for another week, if it wasn’t for my nail growth (‘naked’ nail starting to show at the base of the nail).
Removing the gel polish – understandably – takes a little longer than with normal nail polish. And they also have a removal kit that you can purchase separately, which works really well and would be my first choice for easy removal. Alternatively, you can soak your nails in acetone for 10-15 min and use an orange stick to lift the polish off your nails.
Final Thoughts: Apart from this being an amazing product in its own right, the pricing structure contributes to making this a worthwhile purchase!
All in all, I LOVE this product and will definitely be stocking up on many more of the other colours!! And Christmas being just around the corner.. hint… hint… 😉
I will also be doing a video review of this product next week, and together with that I will be posting some helpful tips & hints that I’ve picked up so far.
