Pearl – SARIE voorblad kompetisie Shoot MakeUp & Hair Styling
Pearl had quite a unique story about how or why she entered the SARIE voorblad competition.
She changed careers late-ish in her life due to unforeseen circumstances. And ended up working as receptionist at a Doctor’s practice. This doctor (her boss) believed in her from the start. She encouraged her to take the job even after she revealed that she had no computer knowledge or experience. Which meant she would need to learn everything from scratch.
Her boss was also the one who insisted that she enter the SARIE voorblad competition. And she even paid for Pearl’s photo shoot in order for her to have some nice portrait photos to send in with her entry.
Pearl’s MakeUp
Pearl has these huge multi-coloured eyes and fabulous full lips. Since the brief for these photos was for her to look natural, I didn’t go too dark and dramatic or too glam. I just used purple-hued eye shadows to bring out the green bits in her blue/grey eyes. Then I added a deep red lipstick on her lips.
Pearl’s Hair
We started the shoot with her hair down. And then decided to rather do some up styles in the following looks. This would show off the structure of her face as well as her neckline. So I first did a low twisted side bun for the one look. And then I took her hair up into a loose bun on top of her head, with some soft pieces hanging loose around her face.
Pearl was such a lovely woman, inside and out. And while she was not chosen as one of the finalists, this shoot was exactly what she needed to boost her own self confidence and self love.
If I haven’t mentioned it before, this is actually the core of my business as a MakeUp Artist. And the ultimate goal I would like to achieve with each and every job that I get to do. To empower all women with self-confidence and self-love by showing them how beautiful and worthy they are! <3 <3 <3
