During these cold and dreary winter months, I always need to find ways to still brighten up my days – and in the process maybe make myself feel a little ‘warmer’.. 😉
One of the ways I have found to do this for myself, is to wear bright coloured clothing; nails; and yes! Makeup!!
And a fun & easy way to use bright colours, is colour blocking..
Colour blocking literally means using ‘blocks’ of solid colour.
These can either be in the same colour range (different shades of blue for example), or colours close to each other (eg. blue & purple) or even colours that are opposite each other on the colour wheel.
The idea is to be creative and to have fun! so pretty much anything goes.
In the look that I did, I decided to use some bright liquid eyeliners to do wide geometric lines on my eyes.
The colours that I chose for this MakeUp look (and also the colour blocking idea), was inspired by some stillettos that I recently added to my collection. And you can see them in my post from last week on the colour blocking Nail Art that I did, to go with my shoes! 😉
The blue liner that I used was L.A. Colors Grafix eyeliner – Navy
For the purple, I used L.A. Colors Grafix eyeliner – Plum
And then a Purple glitter eyeliner over that from Beauty Treats Int’l
For the white, I used some cream stage makeup and an eyeliner brush, and some white eyeshadow to set it.
Then I added some black eyeliner [Catrice Cosmetics Precision Eyepencil – 010 Blackstreet Boys] to my waterline and Rimmel London Volume Flash Scandaleyes Mascara – 001 Black
Golden Rule: – Always remember that when you use bold colours on your eyes, you need to keep your lips as ‘nude’ as possible. Use a clear lipgloss, or one that is the same colour a your natural lip colour.
Accenting both your eyes and your lips at the same time, will make you look like a clown.
Which is not really a good thing, unless you actually are a clown… lol
We’ll that’s it for now… Pop in again on Thursday for my weekly nail art post!!
Where do you buy these in South Africa…? I’d so be on to them as soon as I am home again!!!
They’re sold in Dischem Pharmacies, Super Awesome colours!!
Awesome! Thanx a lot. Can you remember +- how much they go for?
Hi Adele, I don’t want to lie to you.. but I think they were somewhere around R39-00 per liner
Thank you 🙂 That’s not much at all.
